Although I couldn't provide an archived show, I think you'll love this. It's something I've been intending to post for a long time & just now got the chance. "The World's Greatest Interpreter of Sophisticated Song" by Nan Blakstone!
This is from an album of 78's I had purchased...o, some 6 years ago from a local comic shop for 5 bucks. They had the set tacked on the wall just cuz it looked cool & knew nothing of the artist. Actually I know little of her as well, if you visit hensteeth you'll learn as much as I have. A 3 record set from Gala, just Nan on the piano, relaxed & having fun!

Yeow! I gotta admit I gaffed, I got caught up with other matters shortly before the program & am unable to provide a downloadable file for this week's show. Too bad because it felt like it was only a half hour & not two.
But let's talk about the bands! Continuing from last week, more Nightstalker madness & Chachi on Acid insanity (I Hate Hippies & I hate Hemp....'tis funny cuz it's true). Not enough crazy for you? How about eight freak-outs from Broken Crayons to get your tongue waggin & chin draggin?!?!?! What ever these guys got prolly won't grow up here 'cuz it's too cold & dry but i swear they managed to soak some into their album cover featuring a holly jolly George W getting ready to cut out some hearts & minds. Operacion Alborato are a bunch of guys from south of the border & I'm not talking about North Dakota! Not sure what they're sangin' about but I'll go along with it. Crushing metal brought to you by Upwards of Endtime (I keep thinking of them as Upwards of Eternity in my head, driving me nuts) A great NWOBHM/classic Doom style which I'm surprised isn't more common. Fans of Cirith Ungol, Withfinder General & earlier Judas Priest take note! Still on the topic of all things heavy, Chicago's Unfortunaut snuck in the back door & was a last minute add to the show. Yep, I played "URSA" twice by mistake, but when the music's that good I don't hear any complaints.

The set had new tracks from B-Monster as well as Dixie Witch & Sasquatch, Dead Meadow is always good to keep the noggin' a-bobbin'. Once in a blue Moon I'll throw in the odd bit of disco I actually like, Belle Epoque definately an example of the better acts of that era. Hmm, A pretty Hard & funky mix of songs, Memphis Morticians always good for bringing it back to the roots.
Check out my latest offering on 365 Days! I've been inserting heart sounds with narration by G.W. Manning for some time, now you can get the full deal!

A couple of nice Pearl Sisters tracks, I still haven't learned Korean tho.
More heaviness from Cactus & members of the Small Stone family of bands
For this week, I offer my old copy of Beyond Possession's "Tell Tale Heart" EP.

The William Basinski Track is from "The Disintegration Loops". He was in New York working with old taped loops of music he had recorded over a decade earlier, when he was putting them throught the playback, the tapes would slowly flake apart with each pass. He continued to record this music and document it's slow passing. The project took on a new significance as it was nearing completion on 9/11. He dedicated the final work to the victims on that day.
This week's sharity is a bit different, I hope you find it interesting. It's a collection of radio spots in promotion of the Johnny Cash film "Johnny Cash! The Man, His World, His Music".

Tonight's show was definately on the heavy side with new music from Exile on Mainstream's Volt & Beehoover, and just too guarantee unpleasant dreams, The woman who's perfected that sound of delerium, Diamanda Galas' Tragouthia was played. Keeping in the Pentagram family, Place of Skulls with an excellent cover of the Animals classic & this week wasn't without it's krautrock.

The tracks were from '85's "Relentless" & a live set from the late 70's called "A Keg Full of Dynamite". The Cat, Viparat & Sakarin Boonpit are all available on "Thai Beat a Go-Go" some really wacked out covers of western hits and originals!
It's been a while since I've shared an LP so here y'all go! Not much info on this one, so if you know the artist's name, leave a comment!

Not so much doom tonight but the Merzbow track was certainly mind melting & nearly equipment frying! Yellow Hyper Balls indeed! Composer Iannis Xenakis was also given a fair shake.
And as I announced after the Roberta Lee w/ Thurl track, The 365days project has returned! In 2003, Otis Fodder had organized a web classic. One strange MP3 of a tune per day. For 2007 it has been expanded to include full albums also. I'm looking for worthy entries & I encourage you to learn more about this fun event & participate!

Ok, so as requested, I tried "archiving" a show in mp3 form for the first time. I doubt I'll be doing this every week but it seems like a cool way for those who miss the show to hear it. Ok, tonight's show featured some Thrones I just picked up that day. "Day Late, Dollar Short" is a collection of rarities from The Joe Preston Project spanning over a decade. I haven't even had a chance to listen to this double vinyl collection all the way through yet, but "Obolus" stood up & demanded to be played on the show!

High on Fire - Master of Fists
BBBBBRRRRRRR!!!! my coldest show yet....almost got stuck in a snow drift on the way here! but it was worth it to play stuff like High on Fire! "The Art of Self Defense" is one of my top 10 fave metal albums of all time. Truly Lysergic stuff. Just purchased a shwack of John Cale earlier today too, so look forward to hearing him. As winter bears down, I'll be there with cozy quilted sonic vibes your gramma never knitted.
Alright, now this week I'm sharing.... more Lena Lim! This is "Golden Voice of Lena Lim" and it's without english to guide me along, but fine tracks nonetheless.

A few I have already shared & some up and coming. I'm thinkin up new playlists so there will be even more variety on the show. This may result in less cancon, but we'll see towards year end.
This week I'm sharing some Lena Lim! Fortunately, this record does have the english titles included! The songs are "Farewell", "Under The Streetlamp" and "When Will He Return?".

My "Just missed Halloween by an hour" show! My psycho-billingiest show to date! Many songs featued from the fantastic "Zombie Night in Canada 2" set. Also brand spankin' new tunes from Memphis Morticians and a collaboration between Boris & Sunn O))) entitled "Altar".
I'm really loving "Altar". "Sinking Belle" is one of the most beautiful tracks I've heard in a long time, but back to the show.
I guess there wasn't much directly related to Halloween played, but my God, there's more out there than "Monster Mash" right?!?! Right!
Zacherley kills me, I mean he really slays!
Now for this week's show sharity as pictured.
This is another killer of a record that's a real mystery. It appears to be of a children's puppet show and the show's hosts are pictured on the bottom? These songs are great, hearing the last one really floored me! Now I'm guessing it is possible that it was lifted from another recording, but the chorus brings that into doubt. Anybody have any answers?

Tonight's show featured some new music, a really cool laid back hip-hop instrumental "The Doo Bad Hustle" by Olive Green on Candlewax Records you can check them out here
http://www.candlewaxrecords.com or here
http://www.myspace.com/candlewaxrecords
This song is from a record "The Songs of Chang Siao Ying". Now whether or not it is actually her singing is the question, because I believe there is a compilation available with the same song credited to Chang Siao Ying and it is definately a different recording. I've had people say this song is both catchy and annoying with it's "yay yayaya yayaya ya yay".

Tried something new this week, I've added an opening & closing theme. The theme from Outer Limits has always given me chills & has a very cool dramatic ending leading to the first selection. The ending title has this spent and weary feeling like you've just gotten off a merry-go-round that ran longer than you expected. I've edited both to fit in with the show so from now on they won't be the original duration. Oh yeah, there's also background music while I'm talking, just little snippets of tunes.
Now, as far as this week's sharity, I don't know what the guy's name is, but he looks like he just wants to entertain you. So check it out. One last thing, I'm sure the last song isn't about a certain online auction site, but it's fun to pretend it is!
